Thank you for your question regarding continuing education requirements. We understand the challenges that recent event cancellations and conference re-scheduling notices may be posing to our licensed professionals. Please note: Any continuing education course that is classified as a live class by COPE, and recorded into your OE Tracker account by the provider as such, will be counted as a live class towards meeting your required credits for the maintenance of a TN Optometry license.
At this time, COVID-19 presents a rapidly changing situation, and plans for addressing various issues continue to be reviewed and refined by the appropriate state agencies. The Rules Governing the Practice of Optometry, Chapter 1045-02, remain in effect as written, with the exception of any special provisions that may be issued under an Executive Order. Here is the link to all of Governor Lee’s Executive Orders: https://sos.tn.gov/products/division-publications/executive-orders-governor-bill-lee.
We suggest that you check the Optometry Board website from time to time. Should there be any special announcements, we will ensure that they are posted at this link: https://www.tn.gov/health/health-program-areas/health-professional-boards/opt-board.html.
